August It Is...

I knew it would happen...the summer would unfold and then roll on by like a fast speeding train.  It was easy to fool myself until Monday when the calendar page turned to August!!  Can I get a redo...or maybe just another month?  The answer is no, and so on Monday Kate and I left the condo at the indecent hour of 7:00 am and went into town to get shots, a physical, and a doctor's signature on a mountain of health forms.  Then there was the line at Office Depot where I decided, spur of the moment, to go to fax all of the documents up to Vanderbilt.  Half a day later found us in Panera Bread eating lunch and trying to regroup and plan the upcoming week of vacation because this is the last hurrah before the nitty gritty work of packing begins...next week!

Katelyn has been doing some shopping for her dorm room which we just found out is in Murray House...

She found this painting in the gift shop at the Musee D'Orsay in Paris

From Anthropologie a reminder of London

Her quilt and shams are from Pottery Barn

Nicole made this bible cover for Kate...so sweet and complete with pockets inside!

She also did some shopping for rain boots...cause every girl going off to college needs a pair...or two!
Short ones for moderately rainy-ish days

Knee-hi boots for trudging through raging flood water in style...because Kate loves this kind of outdoor adventure!!  Okay so I am poking at her a bit...when in actuality she comes by this love of shoes honestly...her dad is always on the lookout for his next pair ;)

And yes, we have also purchased the rest of the bedding, towels, a new jewelry box, picture frames, a shower caddy (cause while this is a new dorm, they do it the old-fashioned way...community bathrooms down the hall)!
Still to purchase...desk supplies!  The big items...printer, TV, fridge, and microwave will be split between Kate and her new roommate...and we will purchase those in Nashville at one of the 4 Targets or 3 Best Buys or 10 Walmarts (okay...that last number may be an exaggeration)!  The joys of going to college in a big city!!

Chelsea you ask...what about Chelsea?  Welllllll, it is her 3rd and last year at Auburn as she will be graduating in May and moving on to Pharmacy school next year!  She is really excited to be moving into an apartment this year.   Furniture is waiting for us in Birmingham at 2 stores and Nicole's garage.  The moving van has been rented...the Alabama power account set up...first month's rent paid.  She moves in on the 13th...and it is going to take a small army and several trips to Momma Goldberg's to get the job done :)  There will be lots of pictures to post at the end of that weekend!

But it is only Wednesday...and we still have time to squeeze in a bit of summer...life is good!
