Five for Friday

Last time in March for a Five for Friday post so today I am talking about Spring...

1) After about 2 years of thinking about and looking for a new office armoire...This arrived yesterday...happy day!

I gladly cleared out the old one and organized the new home office this morning! What a bonus that our ancient little tv fit!!  I would have missed my morning routine of breakfast and coffee with Gabby while watching either Morning Joe or The Today Show!!

2) While on a roll, I decided to finish putting out Spring decorations...All those bunnies!

3) I did a Spring spruce up at the condo while Nicole was visiting...
Time for some outdoor living!

The REAL outdoor living is out here...

4) With the thermometer already hitting 80 degrees it's time to think iced coffee...so I made the Pioneer Woman's recipe.  I originally snagged it off of her blog, but looky here in her newest cookbook...

To make my iced coffee concentrate I used a pound of Starbucks Morning Joe...and for my cuppa joe I used Blue Diamond's vanilla flavored Almond Milk and half a packet of Truvia...

Mmmm mmm...good stuff!

And as you can see I have already flagged all the recipes I want to make from her cookbook, starting with the Eggs Benedict (yes...my favorite way to eat eggs)!

5) You might or might not remember the awesome picture frame I found and displayed without changing the pic...well finally a picture of my favorite Claire!

As March winds down, I smile...I got to see all of my girls this month which is the best thing in the world! I also got some squirrels out of my attic, and did some more spring cleaning...(though I have to admit the garage is NOT back in order yet)!!  I am starting a new bible study next week and am looking forward to that! And about that exercise goal...well I have been good about the yoga and the walking, but I haven't found another class at the gym yet.  Can I count chasing Claire as exercise??  Next up some, goals for April...what to do, or not to do!

PS...Good Grief...This is why I hesitate to put FABRIC on my sun room table...

Games of All Sorts!

I love games...solitaire, hanging with friends, and words with friends have all been on my phone or iPad at some point or another...here is my latest, thanks to Katelyn!

I am not an artist...but this game is fun, good for some laughs, and a mental break from the very lofty...Words With Friends (haha)!!

On a slightly different note about games...

I read this book back when Katelyn was in high school and thought it was pretty okay (I doubt that Suzanne Collins is concerned about my critique...) and could see the appeal to teen readers (WHAT...teens are reading???)  On Sunday, Rich's birthday, he and I went to see the movie...

The plight of Prim
Not to worry...Katniss to the rescue

Love Stanley Tucci and Woody Harrelson

And then there is the little dilemma of the love interests...I honestly did not picture the baker's son this way when I was reading the book...and so we have another Edward vs Jake?...what is the heroine to do (says I because I haven't read the other two books...yet!).

I could wait for the next movie to find out what happens to Katniss and friends but I think I will just read the books.

Oh...and what did I think about the movie...I liked it, I liked it alot!!

A Day at the Zoo...

On Claire's last day of her "Spring Break" Pop and I took her to Zoo World to see the animals.  She is still too young to understand what we mean when we say we are going to the zoo!  But she loves animals so off we went!

There were lots and lots of monkeys including this rather interesting guy who had only one tooth...Claire wasn't too impressed!

Tigers and lions, however, are a different story (thank you Lion King)!!

She liked the giraffe and enjoyed feeding it with Pop...we didn't get a picture, but I actually fed it the traditional way...food in outstretched hand

Pop bought her a "lion king" but she wanted to ride the real one and wasn't too happy about leaving without accomplishing her goal!!

No worries...we were pretty certain that the park would distract her! All the slides and bridges did the trick!

That evening we went over to the Old Florida Fish House  for dinner.
Claire is the typical girl...must put her "lipstick" on!

A wonderful end to a wonderful week :)

On Saturday morning Nicole, David, and Claire headed back to Birmingham and so ends our official spring break 2012...before I know it Chelsea and Katelyn will be home for summer!!

Birthdays & Seashells...It's Spring Break!

Did I mention that March was gonna be a busy month?  Three separate spring breaks, apartment hunting in Georgia, and the continuation (no it's not over yet) of the removal of the squirrel family (cousins and grandparents and all)!!  Amidst all of this...spring has arrived, March Madness continues (even though Vandy and FSU are now out) and Tim Tebow loses his job as the Broncos QB and heads to NYC...

This week Nicole and family are staying at Carillon.  We have been celebrating her upcoming 30th birthday and enjoying Claire at the beach, in the pool, eating a snow cone, watching Lion King...it doesn't really matter!!

Claire is going to be a discerning shopper...
on this day it was all about scarves at J Crew!

Back at the condo we snapped a few pics before going out
for dinner...Thai Food at Oishi was Nicole's choice

I must have been mesmerized by David's watch...

After dinner we had to light candles
                                                                 and sing happy birthday...
Sometimes it takes a village to get the job done!!

WOW :)

On Wednesday we went to the beach...Claire loves picking up shells

and she realllllly loves the water...

and taking walks along the beach with GiGi...

and playing in the sand

she is so busy she doesn't notice the very large seagull...

Eventually our quiet beach began to fill up with teenagers playing football and what-not, so we packed up and moved on to the pool...

today she wanted to play in the baby pool

The adults are pooped...and after two hours of fun in the sun, though she tried to convince us that she was ready for more, we loaded up the golf cart and headed over to Castaways for lunch before nap time!

The joys of being two!!
