Super Cute Lights...Another Pinterest Project

Here it is...the last week of summer with the last one at home!  It's time for everyone to get back to it and in our family that encompasses everything from dorms to lectures to grading papers to bedtimes (that would obviously be Claire and well...maybe David who likes to go to bed early and wake up very early!).  Kate moves into her dorm at Vandy on Sunday afternoon and so we have been organizing and crafting when she isn't hanging out with friends!

Everything but the clothes, shoes, jewelry, purses...yea, still a ways to go :)
But hey it's only Wednesday, so plenty of time for crafts...

For the super cute lights (picture below) you will need...9 oz solo cups,
fabric, scissors, Mod Podge glue, 35 mini lights, an Exacto knife,
 and a sponge brush.
1) Cut a solo cup and use to make a pattern.
2) Using pattern, trace and cut fabric to cover the solo cups (add 1/4 inch to one end of fabric so that it will overlap on the cup).
We used a strand of 35 lights and decided to use every other
light so we cut 17 pieces of fabric.
3) Using an Exacto knife make an X in the center of the cup bottom.
4) Apply Mod Podge to the outside of the cup and immediately place fabric on the cup.
5) When the glue is dry (about 20 minutes) gently punch the lights through the X cut on the bottom of the cup.

Plug in...instant ambience for a dorm room :)
In Hobby Lobby next to the mini light set (in the CHRISTMAS
section) there were packages of mini Command hooks made for the purpose
of hanging lights...I'll let you know how well they work.
